James de Vere ALLEN b. 1844 Somerset, Eng., son of John ALLEN and Elizabeth CROSS was married in 1889, St Kilda, Victoria to Florence Adeline GURNER, b. 1863 St Kilda, Victoria, dau of Henry Field GURNER and Augusta Mary CURR. James ALLEN and family appear to have arrived in the Digby area ca 1904 and farmed the property, 'Stokesdale' at Digby. James died at 'Stokesdale', in 1909 and is buried in the digby Cemetery. His wife died in 1930, Caulfield, Victoria. They had the following family:
