Information from a KNIGHT / KNIGHTS researcher identified this Benjamin KNIGHT buried in the Digby Cemetery.
Benjamin was baptised 29 May 1816, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth. Their marriage is recorded on the IGI as taking place in the Chesterton District Mar Q 1838 between Benjamin Knights and Sarah Cotteridge. (Waterbeach is part of the Chesterton district) They are lodging at 10 Riverside Waterbeach which is Robert Darkins house in the 1851 census returns. They then sailed on the Ann Milne to Portland, Australia, arriving on 1st January 1853. He was aged 36 and his profession was given as Sawyer, she was 35 and it states simply that she was his wife. Said both had been baptised. Sarah died of disordered menstruation. Her parents are given as Thomas and Ann Cottage. Date of death: 24 March 1859, date of burial: 25 March 1859. Benjamin was the informant. Death certificate says she was buried in Hamilton cemetery, and she was married aged 22 in Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire. They had no children - I assume because of Sarah's health problems.
__?. KNIGHT was listed as one of the buyers of the first Digby town allotments.
