John McLENNAN b. 1826, Contin, Ross & Cromartyshire, Scotland, son of Alexander McLENNAN and Catherine McRAE, married in 1849, Ross & Cromartyshire, Scotland to Rebecca MATHESON b. 1824, Contin, Ross & Cromartyshire, Scotland, daughter of Kenneth MATHESON and Elizabeth McKENZIE.

John McLENNAN and family arrived at Portland, S-W Victoria on the "John Davies" in November 1852. By 1859 John McLENNAN was the overseer on "Crawford Station" between Hotspur & Condah, where their last child Donald McLENNAN was born in 1860.

By 1878 the family was at Mumbannar, west of Dartmoor, where son Kenneth died aged 20y of phthisis. Daughter Elizabeth died the following year, son John died there in 1888, and the eldest son Alexander died there much later in 1921.

This left the youngest son Donald McLENNAN who married Sydney "Ruth" PENNY from Queensland, in Adelaide in 1906. They settled at Mumbannar, where they had six children, two of whom died as infants. Donlad & Ruth died in 1938 & 1941 respectively and are buried in the Dartmoor Cemetery.

John McLENNAN & Rebecca MATHESON had the following known children:

  1. Alexander McLENNAN b. 1850, Dingwall, Ross, Scotland, d. 1921 "Moola" Mumbannar, Vic.;

  2. Elizabeth McLENNAN b. 1852 at sea "John Davies," d. 1879, Mumbannar, Vic.;

  3. John McLENNAN b. ~1855 S-W Vic., d. 1888, Mumbannar, Vic;

  4. Kenneth McLENNAN b. ~1858 S-W Vic., d. 1878, Mumbannar, Vic;

  5. Donald McLENNAN b. 1860, "Crawford Station," near Hotspur, S-W Vic, d. 1938, Mumbannar, Vic. m. Sydney Ruth PENNY 1878-1941 (6 children).

Donald McLENNAN and Sydney Ruth PENNY lived at "Moola", Dartmoor and are buried in the Dartmoor Cemetery as are Donald's parents, John & Rebecca McLENNAN.
