Charles BURNIP b. 1838, Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia son of James BURNIP and Margaret DALTON was married in 1874 at Colac, Victoria to Julia Sophia TYERS, b. 1853, Port Albert, Gippsland, Victoria, daughter of Captain Charles James TYERS [R.N.] and Georgina Caroline SCOTT.

Captain Charles James TYERS [R.N.] was a surveyor who, in 1839 marked the border separating South Australia and Port Phillip (Victoria) border at the mouth of the Glenelg River near the later township of The Punt or Nelson. He was recorded as a 33 year old Londoner when he fixed this mark in 1839.

Charles and Julia BURNIP died in Queensland in 1887 and 1886 respectively.
