Dr. Charles GRIER b. 1822, Monoghan, Ireland married in 1854 at "Crawford" Station, near Hotspur, S-W Victoria, Australia to Maria Agnes CHRISTIE / MONRO.

Dr GRIER arrived as Surgeon Superintendant on "John Davies" to Portland in 1852.

Maria was born in Sydney, NSW in 1836, the daughter of Charles CHRISTIE and Jane WHITTLE and took on the name MONRO after her mother's marriage to Henry MONRO in 1841.

Jane CHRISTIE (nee WHITTLE) married Henry MONRO in Melbourne in 1841 but died in 1842.

Henry MONRO became a squatter on the "Crawford" (or BASSETT's) Pastoral Run at Hotspur in 1843 after its previous occupier Christopher BASSETT had been killed by aborigines.
